Abecedarius (November)

They’ve blown, the acacias. Backyards burgeon bougainvillea and correa, cream under green. The dainty daisies go bush-like. Eucalypts and rain-sprayed everlastings, fennel, fuchsias, forget-me-nots. Grevilleas grasp the air; heavenly hardenbergia and pastel bearded irises. Any day now jacaranda purple will blow into sky-lakes. Lemon blossoms suck bees; magnolia, morning glory, and all through November orchids extend a hand. Packet seeds turn into poppies quietly then quit. Roses rage, ripple, regale. Sage finds second life. Ti-tree do their thing, likewise understated understoreys and violets after storms. Words blow for each, X where buried, yours in this language, zoomed-in where sight strays.

Abecedarius (November)

They’ve blown, the acacias.
Backyards burgeon bougainvillea
And correa, cream under green.
The dainty daisies go bush-like.
Eucalypts and rain-sprayed everlastings,
Fennel, fuchsias, forget-me-nots.
Grevilleas grasp the air;
Heavenly hardenbergia
And pastel bearded irises.
Any day now jacaranda purple
Will blow into sky-lakes.
Lemon blossoms suck bees;
Magnolia, morning glory,
And all through November
Orchids extend a hand.
Packet seeds turn into poppies
Quietly then quit.
Roses rage, ripple, regale.
Sage finds second life.
Ti-tree do their thing,
Likewise understated understoreys
And violets after storms.
Words blow for each,
X where buried,
Yours in this language,
Zoomed-in where sight strays.
