November,
month of examinations and resignations. Tense, normal, when one-more-year asks
for more explanations, less paperwork c/- our friendly robot. Roses and
eucalypts scent the air after rain. December, month of drinkies and outings. Keep
to the left side, watch for trucks and drunks. Bling in itself replaces the
thing-in-itself, as if they were ever the same. Families re-visit futures scarcely
imagined at the crib. January, when everyone goes away, into sun and surf, moonlit
bush. Sounds loud blue, bright as light, take us into heat that could catch and
burn the place black. It’s snoozy novels behind cane blinds.

Month (February)
January ladles boiling plums into glass jars. February
fears hot northerlies. March cycles school and work and home again in earnest.
April manages let downs and break-throughs like we’ve been here before. May’s
drop-off, side streets, supermarket, WWW, bills, pick-up. June spins a kitchen
radio song. July stays inside. August reruns favourite DVDs and floods gutters
with too much clarity. September catches cold and takes two days off. October
weaves symphonies of birdsong and traffic snarl. November copies files and
starts fresh lists. December gives everyone a break. Jampot Firebreak Mash Able Maze Tune Chilly Aghast Sleepover
