Miltonics (November)

Thou art protean in thy earthly forms, edged through with like archaisms afoot. Cell trading cell sends suchlike to the light: fan of tree, stream of vine, cup of flower. Bursting star seed, hull of pod, snaking root course the world ever giving what they get. Insect iridescence scuttles and flits. Old genomes look forward, bird life lifts off. Imitation, sincerest form of wit, bestirs, besets Old Genome Number One. Captive to our wants east of Eden walking we make gliding escalators; sight, TVs; horses, cars; birdflight, big planes. Surrounded thus with manifold shatters, yearn we for Earth’s unlike archaisms.

Miltonics (November)

Thou art protean in thy earthly forms,
Edged through with like archaisms afoot.
Cell trading cell sends suchlike to the light:
Fan of tree, stream of vine, cup of flower.
Bursting star seed, hull of pod, snaking root
Course the world ever giving what they get.
Insect iridescence scuttles and flits.
Old genomes look forward, bird life lifts off.
Imitation, sincerest form of wit,
Bestirs, besets Old Genome Number One.
Captive to our wants east of Eden
Walking we make gliding escalators;
Sight, TVs; horses, cars; birdflight, big planes.
Surrounded thus with manifold shatters,
Yearn we for Earth’s unlike archaisms.
