Ekphrasis (November)

Thou art innumerable in thy art who speaks as Conder in flowering orchards the outcome a greenest geometry turning this way and that without ruler or remotest perspective to distract, as the cycle here starts again, extends. Hokusai, his spry distant relation, relates how an artist’s papers windblown join hats and birds and leaves over ricefields: the famous mountain still in the distance, everyone walking with, or against, force. Ice is its own shades when Bonnard talks. His way of pronouncing thou November is more whites, varied hues held in common. We know thee yet by name, for how long...

Ekphrasis (November)

Thou art innumerable in thy art
Who speaks as Conder in flowering orchards
The outcome a greenest geometry
Turning this way and that without ruler
Or remotest perspective to distract
As the cycle here starts again, extends.
Hokusai, his spry distant relation,
Relates how an artist’s papers windblown
Join hats and birds and leaves over ricefields:
The famous mountain still in the distance,
Everyone walking with, or against, force.
Ice is its own shades when Bonnard talks
His way of pronouncing thou November
Is more whites, varied hues held in common.
We know thee yet by name, for how long...
