Maundy Thursday, this year 13th of April. Three
things, just today, that fill me with amazement. 1. My daughter reads ‘Jane
Eyre’ for school. Imagine reading any Brontës for the first time! Like all
great writing, what wonders are in store. 2. At Eastern Hill the children meet
for introduction to Holy Week, which includes mashing spices in a mortar: ‘On
the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices
they had prepared and went to the tomb.’ 3. Melbourne skyline viewed from
Richmond Embankment, how everyone agrees just to keep it going.
