Alighting (April)


A grace word whose delicacy of meanings and sound describes its action. They are alighting from the vehicle, making the vehicle lighter, as well as getting down from or out of the vehicle. Simultaneously they are alighting upon the platform, or roadside, or house entrance, or aircraft link, wherever the vehicle has, presumably, stopped. Though the vehicle too, correctly, was alighting at the place where it landed, or stopped. And, for all we know, passengers and vehicle have alighted upon a place (Apollo Bay, not Lorne) or time even (not March, April) none had planned, the sun alighting their way…
