Ahhh (April)

A is for Ahhh, the brightness beneath the braincap, a child’s charm. Definite deliberate din and dribbly enunciation echo the form of phrases got from gathering, the how of how to say how. I, intuitive imitation jape, join links of light: little language. My, the mind moons with nursery noise. It organises original plosives plus pooh patterns, personal p’s and qs, qua qua qua, queues quite quickly, responds and resonates. The secret slide of syllables in tiny talk unites and unifies. It venns with verity which words why and when expanding, excited, expressive yet zealous, zippy, zen. [November 2012-April 2017]

This alphabet poem started out circa 2004, was rejigged in 2012, and then found again today in a file. It's about the growth of a child's language, based on close observation, and is incredibly circa one hundred words. Here's the original with the line sequence in place:

Ahhh (April)

A is for Ahhh,
the brightness beneath the braincap,
a child’s charm.
Definite deliberate din and dribbly
enunciation echo
the form of phrases
got from gathering,
the how of how to say how.
I, intuitive imitation
jape, join
links of light: little language.
My, the mind moons
with nursery noise.
It organises original
plosives plus pooh patterns, personal p’s
and qs, qua qua qua, queues quite quickly,
responds and resonates.
The secret slide of syllables
in tiny talk
unites and unifies.
It venns with verity
which words why and when
expanding, excited, expressive
yet
zealous, zippy, zen.
