Peculiarity (August)

Carrot hair, salt-and-pepper hair. Shell-like ears, cauliflower ears. No two humans are the same. We’re all born slightly differently. Sapphire eyes, bloodshot eyes. Pug noses, Roman noses. Or mightily differently, depending. Difference amuses. Difference is a permanent wonder. Mouth from the South, Butter wouldn’t melt. What a work of art is this peculiarity. The joke’s on us, but it’s rude to stare. Adam’s apple, August breast. Funny bone, Backbone of society. Shaky balance, Hippy hippy shake. We came out that way and the similarities abound. Twinkle toes, light fingers. Achilles heel, All in the feel. Legends in our own lunchbox.
