Hat (March)

In 1915 sepia they all wear hats in changeable weather. Each March they ordered new winter hats, boater left on a hook. In 2015 selfies mostly no one has headwear. Baseball caps for young men. The odd panama, akubra, or cloche. A leather trilby sends surface messages. Irish cap for an old bald chap. Officials wear hats that are distinguishing, rather than distinguished. Helmets are law for bicyclists, and window cleaners whizzing up buildings on ropes. Headscarves, hajibs keep the wind away. Headphones are popular but don’t stop the rain. The most common headcoverings are sunglasses, perched on the scalp.
