Violet (September)

Rainwater sways and glides into arched grooved tiles. Gutters take September storms down away the four-sided pipe, whence it gushes into a bucket. Literally a used paint container with handle, found on the nature strip two summers ago when the neighbouring Indian family decided to redesign their kitchen. Water shimmer splashes at the brim, runs over into a square standing garden tray of green ceramic. Floods on a small scale by gravity move down the concrete path into sodden earth. The water there settles, turning dark green and abundant: small purple pennants, close-up cinquefoil, flag their progress along the borders.
