Panic (February)

[For Lenore Stephens] When lightning strikes the farm of the famous footballer, no one panics. The strike develops into a red alert. Everyone has their special bushfire plan. It’s leave now. Hepburn Springs is the most familiar name on the emergency map. Everyone everywhere suddenly seems to know someone in or around Hepburn Springs. No one panics. A phone call, a text message, is required. Smoke above the coasts informed the telescope of the famous explorer. Watercolours materialized. No one panicked. Bushfires appeared to be the norm. No one knew anyone setting those fires. February was no busier than normal.
