‘Just a
suggestion’ is usually pointed advice. ‘Suggestion’ suggests it’s an option, the
floating of an idea, whereas these are the words of someone in a hurry. They’re
giving you the answer. Their idea is a missile, not a balloon. Reading online
Comments is challenging. Is that volatile putdown irony? That devastating assault
on logic no more than a helpful suggestion? Outside the window it’s September,
free of such exchange, everything awake with suggestions of spring. Perhaps a
suggestion’s just a suggestion, as an orange is only an orange. Responses are
invited to this subjective mood. All suggestions are welcome.
